UAP Members Celebrate Banned Books Week

Many of our members are librarians, writers, or teachers of English and Literature. This year we're highlighting their voices for Banned Books Week. Read on for more about their favorite banned books, why they teach what they do, and what's so important about intellectual freedom.

UAP is #AFTallin in Las Vegas!

This April, a group of UAP members who traveled to Las Vegas for the 2016 AFT Higher Ed/PSRP Joint Conference where we spent three days talking with faculty and academic professionals from around the country about shared victories, challenges, and ways to make our union stronger.

UAP Mission Statement

United Academics of Philadelphia, American Federation of Teacher’s (AFT) Local 9608 is an organization that seeks to unify and support the nearly 15,000 adjunct instructors currently working in Philadelphia-area colleges. As a vital but often underrepresented element of higher education, we believe that together we can accomplish what we cannot achieve as individuals.  To ensure respect, security, fair pay and benefits from our institutions of employment, UAP is advocating for the unionization of adjuncts at Philadelphia-area colleges.
